Aqu\u00ed hay un resumen r\u00e1pido de lo que ha estado sucediendo en Lansing, pero puede leer m\u00e1s en nuestro bolet\u00edn para obtener m\u00e1s detalles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Segundo vistazo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HB 4556-60, tambi\u00e9n conocida como \u201cSecond Look\u201d, crea un proceso para que los jueces de sentencia revisen una sentencia larga despu\u00e9s de que una persona haya estado encarcelada durante 10 a\u00f1os y, si creen que est\u00e1 justificado, reduzcan las sentencias que son m\u00e1s largas de lo necesario. Tenemos la esperanza de que habr\u00e1 m\u00e1s audiencias sobre esta propuesta.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>M\u00e9dicamente fr\u00e1gil<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La SB 599, tambi\u00e9n conocida como \u201cLibertad condicional para personas m\u00e9dicamente fr\u00e1giles\u201d, permite que las personas con enfermedades terminales o incapacitadas mental o f\u00edsicamente obtengan libertad condicional y reciban atenci\u00f3n m\u00e1s adecuada. Necesitamos esta pol\u00edtica porque las c\u00e1rceles y prisiones no est\u00e1n equipadas ni cuentan con personal para brindar la atenci\u00f3n compleja y costosa que necesitan las personas m\u00e9dicamente fr\u00e1giles. La SB 599, que cuenta con apoyo bipartidista, es una soluci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica al estatuto original de libertad condicional para personas m\u00e9dicamente fr\u00e1giles aprobado en 2019. Desafortunadamente, el estatuto de 2019 no funcion\u00f3 como se esperaba y solo una persona ha sido puesta en libertad condicional desde que se aprob\u00f3 la ley hace cinco a\u00f1os.
