Here&#8217;s How to Return It"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Election Day is November 3, and if you still have your absentee ballot at home, now is the time to return it!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Election Day getting closer, we recommend <strong>returning your absentee ballot in person rather than putting it in the mail.<\/strong> You have several options, including secure drop boxes, your local clerk&#8217;s office, and early voting sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And before you return your ballot in its envelope, <strong>make sure you&#8217;ve signed the return envelope!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s what Michigan voters need to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"don-t-wait-to-return-your-absentee-ballot\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don&#8217;t wait to return your absentee ballot!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For most voters, your completed absentee ballot must be <strong>received by your city or township clerk by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3<\/strong> contar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means putting your ballot in the mail on Election Day is not enough. It needs to arrive by the deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because postal delays can happen, <strong>we no longer recommend returning absentee ballots by mail<\/strong> for voters living in Michigan. Instead, use one of the options below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Military and overseas voters have different deadlines, explained later in this article.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-to-return-your-absentee-ballot\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to return your absentee ballot<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"1-use-a-secure-drop-box-or-visit-your-local-clerk\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Use a secure drop box or visit your local clerk<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can return your completed absentee ballot to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your city or township clerk&#8217;s office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An authorized satellite clerk&#8217;s office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A secure absentee ballot drop box in your city or township<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Remember to sign your ballot return envelope before dropping it off!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find your clerk&#8217;s offices and drop box locations at <a href=\"https:\/\/mi.gov\/vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mi.gov\/voto<\/strong><\/a> under <strong>Su informaci\u00f3n de votante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also ask an eligible family or household member to return your ballot for you. Michigan allows members of your immediate family, including grandparents, grandchildren, and specified in-laws, or someone living in your household, to deliver your ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"2-bring-your-absentee-ballot-to-an-early-voting-site\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Bring your absentee ballot to an early voting site<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Early voting begins statewide on Saturday, October 24!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a completed absentee ballot, you can bring it to your assigned early voting site and insert it directly into a voting machine called a tabulator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tell an election worker that you already have an absentee ballot and want to submit it. Election workers will check that you&#8217;re at the correct location and that the ballot was issued to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use this option during your community&#8217;s early voting period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find your assigned early voting location and hours at <a href=\"https:\/\/mi.gov\/vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mi.gov\/voto<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"3-bring-your-absentee-ballot-to-your-polling-place-on-election-day\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Bring your absentee ballot to your polling place on Election Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you live <strong>outside Detroit<\/strong>, you can bring your completed absentee ballot to your Election Day polling place on November 3 and insert it into a tabulator after election workers verify your information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important exception for Detroit voters:<\/strong> Detroit residents cannot use this option at their Election Day polling places. If you&#8217;re a Detroit voter returning a completed absentee ballot on November 3, use an authorized drop box or return it to the Detroit clerk&#8217;s office instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detroit voters can still bring their completed absentee ballots to their assigned early voting sites during early voting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find your polling place at <a href=\"https:\/\/mi.gov\/vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mi.gov\/voto<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"can-t-return-your-ballot-yourself-your-clerk-may-be-able-to-pick-it-up\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can&#8217;t return your ballot yourself? Your clerk may be able to pick it up.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re unable to return your completed absentee ballot yourself, and an eligible family or household member cannot return it for you, you can request help from your city or township clerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You must contact your clerk by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 30<\/strong> to request ballot pickup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This service is available when your ballot is located within the city or township where you&#8217;re registered to vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find your clerk&#8217;s contact information at <a href=\"https:\/\/mi.gov\/vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mi.gov\/voto<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"don-t-forget-to-sign-your-ballot-envelope\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don&#8217;t forget to sign your ballot envelope!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re returning your absentee ballot in its envelope, check that you&#8217;ve signed the designated space on the return envelope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the signature that matches the signature your clerk has on file, such as the one on your Michigan driver&#8217;s license, state ID, or voter registration application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Election officials check signatures to verify absentee ballots. <strong>A missing signature can cause your ballot to be rejected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This envelope-signature instruction applies when returning a ballot in its envelope. If you&#8217;re bringing your completed absentee ballot to an early voting site to insert it directly into a tabulator, follow the election workers&#8217; instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"track-your-absentee-ballot\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Seguimiento de su boleta de voto en ausencia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Want to make sure your ballot has been received?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitar <a href=\"https:\/\/mi.gov\/vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mi.gov\/voto<\/strong><\/a> and select <strong>Su informaci\u00f3n de votante<\/strong> to check your absentee ballot&#8217;s status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The online system shows the steps in your ballot&#8217;s progress. If no date appears next to a step, that step has not yet been recorded as complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also sign up to receive email notifications about your absentee ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Checking your ballot status is an important final step, especially as Election Day approaches.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"key-dates-coming-up-for-michigan-voters\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key dates coming up for Michigan voters<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"saturday-october-24-statewide-early-voting-begins\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Saturday, October 24: Statewide early voting begins<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every Michigan community must offer in-person early voting beginning October 24. Some communities offer additional early voting days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find your assigned early voting site and hours at <a href=\"https:\/\/mi.gov\/vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mi.gov\/voto<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"friday-october-30-at-5-00-pm-deadline-to-request-absentee-ballot-pickup\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Friday, October 30, at 5:00 PM: Deadline to request absentee ballot pickup<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you cannot return your absentee ballot and an eligible person cannot deliver it for you, contact your local clerk before this deadline to request pickup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"sunday-november-1-last-day-of-the-required-statewide-early-voting-period\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sunday, November 1: Last day of the required statewide early voting period<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">November 1 is the final day of Michigan&#8217;s nine-day mandatory early voting period. Check with your clerk for any additional local early voting days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"monday-november-2-at-4-00-pm-important-absentee-voting-deadline\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Monday, November 2, at 4:00 PM: Important absentee voting deadline<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For voters already registered where they live, this is generally the deadline to request and vote a new absentee ballot in person at their city or township clerk&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"tuesday-november-3-election-day\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tuesday, November 3: Election Day!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Las urnas estar\u00e1n abiertas de 7:00 a. m. a 8:00 p. m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most absentee ballots must be received by the voter&#8217;s local clerk by <strong>20:00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you still need to register to vote or update your registration address, you can do so <strong>in person at your city or township clerk&#8217;s office with proof of residency through 8:00 PM on Election Day.<\/strong> You can vote after registering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The October 19 online and mail voter registration deadline has passed, but <strong>it&#8217;s not too late to register in person!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"special-deadline-for-military-and-overseas-voters\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Special deadline for military and overseas voters<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re serving in the military or living overseas and qualify under Michigan&#8217;s military and overseas voting rules, your absentee ballot can count if it is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Postmarked on or before Tuesday, November 3<\/strong>, y<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Received by your local clerk by Monday, November 9<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional rules apply to eligible military voters who can return ballots electronically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn more through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/sos\/elections\/voting\/military-and-overseas-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michigan Department of State&#8217;s military and overseas voter information<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"have-questions-help-is-available\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Have questions?
