Como dije, me convert\u00ed en ciudadano en 2022 (por alguna raz\u00f3n, mi esposa obtuvo la suya en 2021, aunque la solicitamos conjuntamente). Mi esposa y yo tenemos certificados, pero mi hija no. Se naturaliz\u00f3 junto con mi esposa en 2021, y aunque el certificado de mi esposa fue suficiente para que nuestra hija obtuviera un pasaporte, no tiene el nombre de la ni\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consult\u00e9 con nuestros abogados y me dijeron que la joven no podr\u00eda obtener su certificado de ciudadan\u00eda hasta que cumpliera 18 a\u00f1os, lo cual cumpli\u00f3 el martes pasado. Mi calendario me record\u00f3 que era hora de llenar su N-600, el formulario para solicitar el certificado de ciudadan\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\u00ed que ayer me sent\u00e9 frente a la computadora, despej\u00e9 un par de horas y me puse a trabajar. Estoy acostumbrada a las complicadas preguntas burocr\u00e1ticas sobre este tipo de papeleo, y confieso que siento una peque\u00f1a satisfacci\u00f3n cada vez que logro sacar a relucir un documento confuso que exige el formulario. Por ejemplo: pude encontrar el n\u00famero de pasaporte que us\u00f3 nuestra hija para entrar al pa\u00eds en 2015, junto con el n\u00famero y la fecha del vuelo. Pude consultar todos los documentos. tres<\/em> de los n\u00fameros que el servicio de inmigraci\u00f3n de Estados Unidos asign\u00f3 a mi esposa y<\/em> a m\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
