\u00a1La Comisi\u00f3n de Redistribuci\u00f3n de Distritos de Ciudadanos Independientes de Michigan (MICRC) ha votado y ha adoptado nuevos mapas! No sorprende que los nuevos mapas hayan recibido cr\u00edticas mixtas. Las demandas se presentaron casi inmediatamente despu\u00e9s de que se adoptaron los mapas. Quienes demandan a MICRC afirman que no hay suficientes distritos de leyes de derechos electorales (VRA) y que los criterios que MICRC us\u00f3 para determinar los VRA se basaron en un mal asesoramiento legal. La cuesti\u00f3n es qu\u00e9 porcentaje de votantes no blancos debe estar presente para formar una VRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este es el espacio donde chocan los intereses de la equidad partidista y el deseo de tener m\u00e1s representaci\u00f3n BIPOC. Tener votantes BIPOC concentrados en menos distritos probablemente tendr\u00eda el efecto de elegir m\u00e1s candidatos BIPOC durante las elecciones primarias disputadas. Sin embargo, desempacar a los votantes de BIPOC resultar\u00eda en la elecci\u00f3n de m\u00e1s dem\u00f3cratas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los detalles de la divisi\u00f3n partidista son imposibles de predecir. Esto depender\u00e1 de una mir\u00edada de factores, entre ellos: qui\u00e9n se muda para postularse en un nuevo distrito y qu\u00e9 tan exitoso es cada partido para lograr que sus seguidores voten. Hasta ahora, parece que habr\u00e1 varias primarias inc\u00f3modas a ambos lados del pasillo. No hay duda de que ambas partes perder\u00e1n a algunos de sus queridos titulares. El nuevo mapa del Congreso deja a 7 de los 14 titulares viviendo en un distrito con otro titular. Tambi\u00e9n crea 2 distritos donde actualmente no vive ning\u00fan titular. La \u00fanica congresista negra de Michigan, Brenda Lawrence, ya ha anunciado que no buscar\u00e1 la reelecci\u00f3n. Rashida Tlaib ha anunciado que planea mudarse al nuevo 12el<\/sup> distrito (donde vive Lawrence). Esto deja el 13el<\/sup> distrito sin titular. Varias personas ya se han presentado y otras est\u00e1n mirando el asiento. Los dem\u00f3cratas Haley Stevens y Andy Levin ahora se enfrentar\u00e1n en una primaria en el nuevo 11el<\/sup> Distrito. En el lado oeste, los republicanos Bill Huizenga y Fred Upton, el actual titular con m\u00e1s a\u00f1os de servicio en Michigan, ahora residen en el mismo distrito. A t\u00edtulo personal, puedo decir que estos mapas no son tan buenos como esperaba, pero tampoco tan malos como esperaba. Me hubiera gustado ver m\u00e1s equidad partidista y m\u00e1s VRA. La manipulaci\u00f3n de las prisiones no se aborda en ninguno de estos mapas. Lo m\u00e1s probable es que el mapa del Congreso resulte en la elecci\u00f3n de 7 dem\u00f3cratas y 6 republicanos. Los republicanos probablemente mantendr\u00e1n el control de la C\u00e1mara de Representantes del estado de Michigan. Y se pronostica que los dem\u00f3cratas obtendr\u00e1n una mayor\u00eda muy peque\u00f1a en el Senado estatal de Michigan.
