SUMMARY:VAAC Statewide Jail Voting Work Group
DESCRIPTION:Several weeks ago our Jail Voting Workgroup started to organize
  and take shape.  The group includes representatives from across the stat
 e—both individuals as well as established organizations working together
  to ensure that voters detained in Michigan jails can exercise their righ
 ts to vote.  So far we have:\n\n\n 	Identified priority “Phase 1” cou
 nties where we have already established a foundation for this work: Wayne\
 , Oakland\, Macomb\, and Genesee.\n 	Built a strategy for reaching further
  across the state.\n 	Organized teams to work in specific counties.\n\nThe
  Work is Just Beginning\nWe’ve created momentum\; now it’s time to ge
 t to work.  You can still get involved by joining our next meeting on Apr
 il 9 at 10AM.  We can use additional help either with the Phase 1 countie
 s or with establishing our presence elsewhere in the state.  For example\
 , we are starting to pull together a team to work in Washtenaw County\, an
 d there is statewide advocacy work to attend to as well.\n\nNo matter wher
 e you are located\, there’s a space to plug in\, and support this work. 
 We will provide guidance\, scripts\, tools\, and coordination to ensure ev
