DESCRIPTION:Kick off the weekend with Macomb Defenders Rising hosting a Joh
 n Lewis teach‑in honoring his life and the unfinished fight for voting r
 ights. We'll share his story\, hear from a voting‑rights voice\, and wal
 k through how to register and check your status — with refreshments and 
 good company. It's also where we launch Saturday's voter‑registration dr
 ive\, so come learn how it works and sign up to help. Non‑partisan\; all
  are welcome. The fight to protect voting rights never ends\, and right no
 w\, we’re witnessing a Jim-Crow-era effort from politicians and their bi
 llionaire friends to restrict our freedoms\, silence our voices\, and cons
 olidate power.\n\nBut in America\, we choose our leaders. We will decide o
 ur future. The same spirit that fueled Selma\, Montgomery\, and the March 
 on Washington lives on in our unified action.\n\nSix years after the passi
 ng of Congressman Lewis\, we're organizing an event in our community to ca
 rry the torch\, continue the legacy of John Lewis\, and pass it forward to
  future generations. Join us!\n\nGood Trouble Lives On is a non-partisan w
 eekend of action. We require that participants commit to not advocate for\
 , endorse\, or oppose any political candidate or ballot initiative. A core
  principle behind all Good Trouble Lives On events is a commitment to nonv
 iolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any poten
 tial confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawf
 ully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permit
