SUMMARY:Breaking the Ice: Games People Play
DESCRIPTION:Breaking the ICE is a deliberate\, breathless convergence—a s
trategic intervention that breathes life into the space between us. It uni
tes women who move through entirely different worlds\, weaving together th
 e lives of Black\, African Diaspora\, Arab\, Latina\, White\, and Asian wo
men. We gather with intention\, bridging the deep\, silent divides of cult
 ure\, faith\, socioeconomic lineage\, and raw lived experience.\n\nThis ev
ent is designed to be an intentional\, transformative space where communit
y organizing meets cultural celebration.\n\nThis time\, we gather around t
he table. And VAAC's Angela Davenport will be a featured host of this even
t along with Rita Brown and Lori Goldman.\n\nEvery game has its players. E
very player has a strategy. There are rules spoken aloud and rules you onl
y discover once you are already in play. There is power in knowing when to
move\, when to wait\, when to protect your queen and when it is finally t
ime to take the king.\n\nThe Games We Play is an intimate evening of strat
 egy\, pleasure\, competition\, and political discovery. Across scattered t
ables\, women will gather over chessboards\, cards\, and games designed to
make us think differently about power. We will laugh\, challenge one anot
her\, break bread\, and uncover the quiet calculations behind the politica
l world we move through every day.\n\nBecause politics has always had its
games.\n\nWho gets invited to the table? Who knows the rules before the ga
me begins? Who has spent years quietly learning the board? And what happen
s when women from entirely different worlds sit across from one another an
 d begin sharing what they know?\nEvent Schedule\n5:00 PM–8:00 PM | The B
oard\, The Players\, The Power and light dinner.\n\nAddress provided upon
registration.\n\nTake your seat.\n\nMove between tables filled with games\
, conversation\, food\, and connection. Learn the seductive discipline of
 chess—patience\, sacrifice\, protection\, anticipation. Enter Political
Healing Monopoly\, where those who have spent years doing the work help re
veal how power\, relationships\, resources\, and organizing actually move
through our communities.\n\nAnd somewhere between the laughter\, competiti
on\, and the next move\, we will enter a deeper conversation about the gam
es of politics to the rules nobody writes down\, the rooms where decisions
are made\, the relationships that shift the board\, and the strategies co
mmunities have used to survive\, organize\, and build power.\n\nCome curio
us. Come competitive. Come ready to teach something and ready to be taught
.\n\nThe board is already set. The question is: how will you play?\n\nBeca
use once you understand the game\, you can begin to understand the board.\
n\nHost Committees &amp\; Partners\n\nBrought to you in powerful solidarit
y with:\n\n Fems for Dems\n Arab Americans for Progress\n Reproductive
 Freedom for All\n ABISA\n
